Friendships are like bras. Yes, I think friendships are like bras. This random thought came to me years ago and has kind of stuck in my head. I debated blogging about something as personal as a bra, but then thought, why not? I don’t need to be so serious all of the time, right? Anyway, back to the bras and how they are like friendships. They come in all colors, shapes and sizes; some are better to wear in certain circumstances and as far as support goes, there are many different levels. Stay … [Read more...]

Time to stop and smell the flowers
You’ll all be happy to know that my mind has kicked back into random mode and blog ideas are flowing again. I know you were worried (insert tiny bit of sarcasm here). Seriously though, thanks to all of you who reached out to me and reminded me that this is supposed to be fun, not stressful, and that it was okay to take a break. I didn’t really take a break (because I have a second book to finish) but I did listen to the other pearls of wisdom you doled out. One of those pearls was to look at … [Read more...]
To write or not to write (sometimes it’s a dilemma)
I’m in the middle of writing some very intense scenes in book two. They’re wearing me out emotionally and because I’m giving all that I have to the book, I’m having a really hard time blogging. I can’t seem to come up with anything that sounds profound or even interesting. I’m kind of stuck and I have a few deadlines (tight, although self-imposed) to meet. Writing is really, really hard work…at least for me. There I said it. I love every minute of this crazy journey I have embarked upon but it … [Read more...]
From the mouths of babes
(outtake from a real conversation) "How are things going with the book, mom? Have you gotten anymore reviews?" "I have and they are all pretty good. One girl told me she loved it and hoped I would be as successful as Fifty Shades of Grey and Harry Potter. I told her, I wish!" "Maybe you will be." "That would be awesome but those books were wildly successful. I don't have that high of expectations for this." "Why? It could happen." "It's better for me to have realistic expectations, that way … [Read more...]
Staying on track
Those of you who know me will be nodding their heads when you read this. Here it goes: anything that I do, I expect to be successful at. Call it confidence, call it delusion, but it’s the way I operate. I give my all to whatever I do and I expect that if I put time and effort into something I will be, and should be, successful and rewarded. It’s a good philosophy It makes me strive to be the best I can be. This is all fine and good unless you’re lacking in the patience department ... which I am. … [Read more...]
Think about this before hitting the ball
My tennis lesson yesterday was intense, and by intense, I mean I spent a lot of the hour and a half getting the ball slammed at me during a “put away” drill. Part of that had to do with the nature of the drill we were doing, and the other part was because the ladies on the other side of the net can bring the heat. Regardless, I walked away with sore shoulders, good strategic advice and a great blog idea. My instructor, JK, was talking about the importance of touch: when it helps to have a soft … [Read more...]
