Wow... finally! I just looked and saw that both of my books, STAY and HOLD ON, are live on all the major retail channels. It’s taken a while to get to this point and I won’t bore you with all of the details, but publishing two books in a year has been quite an experience. I’m only going to focus on good things and the fact that readers can buy my books on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, ITunes and Kobo, is a GREAT thing! It is so surreal to me that just a year ago I started to write Stay, my first … [Read more...]
STAYing inspired and HOLDing ON to the feelings…
Before I really get into this blog, I want you all to know that I absolutely know that Stay is fiction, and that Julian and Lexie don’t really exist. With that said, I will tell you that I spent this past weekend feeling like I was part of their lives while on a mini vacation in South Beach. The weather was perfect! It was so nice to get out of the cold for a few days. It’s been brutal on the East Coast this year and the warm sun, sand, and water were just what I needed to really get going on … [Read more...]
Help! I’ve fallen (into a book) and I can’t get up.
We’ve had a horrible winter on the east coast this year. It's been extremely cold for months, and I've never seen so much snow on my front lawn. I hate the cold. I grew up in Southern California and South Florida, and I don't do the cold well. As a result, I've been spending a lot of time inside. I can't write all of the time and I find it hard to read when I’m in the midst of writing, so I made a decision to try and “catch-up” on some shows I’ve wanted to watch. This has resulted in me … [Read more...]
It’s all about perspective
Everyone sees things differently “Too much sex” - “Not enough sex” “Too much about the clothes” -“Loved the shoes and clothes” “Julian's hot” -“Julian's not my type” (what???) “Poor Luke” - “Luke's a jerk” These are real things I’ve heard. All I can say is wow; it’s so fascinating how differently each person sees things. It amazes me how people can all read the same book and have such different reactions. How is this possible? I think it’s because our reaction and … [Read more...]
Communication 101: Know which voice to use
“It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.” If I had a dime for every time I’ve said this to my husband or my kids…I’d have a lot of dimes! I love them, but there are moments when I question if they were paying attention when the “how to be tactful” lesson was being taught. If they read this, they’d tell you that I’m the one who needs to have a thicker skin. The truth, my family could probably meet somewhere in the middle to avoid some confusion and hurt feelings. Although we really do … [Read more...]
The 24-Hour Rule
Wow, what a week last week was for me. I was super busy with my real job, life at home was its usual chaotic routine and I finished writing the first draft of Hold On, my second novel. I also had to deal with three separate “instances” where I was put into a position where I needed to enact the 24-hour rule. I guess someone is trying to teach me a lesson. The 24-hour rule I’m not sure who came up with this idea, but it was a wise, mature person for sure. If you don’t know what the 24-hour … [Read more...]
